WeWork, the world’s leading creator community and shared workspace provider, held a grand celebration and marked its debut in Shenzhen by opening the WeWork-China Construction Steel Structure Building (CCSS) Community on October 19.

Entering Shenzhen, WeWork will not only transform this city, which is riding on the success of China’s reform and opening up into a humanized workplace, but will also further optimize the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Shenzhen. While bolstering the Greater Bay Area community and driving innovation synergy in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, WeWork’s demonstrated dedication to expanding deeper into China will be a testament to its next key move to further support its “Created in China” campaign.

“In the run-up to the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, Shenzhen, a city that is renowned for its impressive ‘Shenzhen Speed,’ is leading as a prime example of exuding an urban disposition of inclusiveness and openness,” said Alan Ai, general manager of WeWork in China. “With Shenzhen being the frontier of innovation, young entrepreneurs from all over the world flood into this rapidly growing megacity to challenge the norms,” he added.

Situated in the central Shenzhen Bay, where a multitude of companies’ headquarters are based, including Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent and China Aerospace Science, the WeWork-CCSS Community together with its surrounding neighborhoods, will draw the innovation power from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Keeping in tandem with its consistent design style, the WeWork design team also has taken inspiration from the history in the streets around its neighborhood. The CCSS Community boasts a localized design theme that contributes to building an energetic Shenzhen creator-specific community. With overarching design themes demonstrated through features such as the three-story spiral staircase connecting with the common area — this also aims to facilitate increased communication among members, while creating a vibrant atmosphere for local creators, and spurs more creativity to build the next generation of innovation and entrepreneurship in Shenzhen.

“As a leader in revolutionizing future work and lifestyles, WeWork will further drive Shenzhen’s talent attraction and retention strategy by leveraging its strong global network and community resources, to build more robust creator communities. By further sparking local creators’ inspiration and innovation, WeWork will play a key role in supercharging the Greater Bay Area ecosystem,” said Ai.

WeWork is committed to creating an uplifting community atmosphere, by bringing more robust innovation communities to cities across China, and building new landmarks that lead by example for urban living. Looking ahead, WeWork will continuously foster greater innovation power, while constantly fulfilling its long-term commitment to helping “Created in China” set its roots in China with partnerships and support and further deepen its localization strategies.
